Bio
Originally formed in 2010, Rake the Ashes made their name playing their now legendary Sunday night sessions in Dublin.
Comprised of Chris O Donnell [vocals/guitar], Fran Deffew [vocals/bouzouki], Al Ryan [vocals/guitar], and Paddy Kiernan [banjo] their repertoire consists of lively popular ballads, driving jigs and reels and well-known folk numbers all delivered in their unique, high-energy style.
Their energetic live show has taken them the length and breadth of Ireland, as well as the UK, Germany, Italy and Greece in recent years, performing at the likes of the 3 Arena, Electric Picnic and The National Stadium along the way.
With two albums to their name, "The Pitman's Pay" and "Lockdown in Cassidy's", Rake the Ashes faithfully continue the rich tradition of Irish ballad groups, drawing influences from The Dubliners, The Fureys, the Wolfe Tones and the Clancy Brothers into their unique and unmistakable sound.
